Flamenco Intimo

2025 – A Decade of Reflection

For the past ten years, Julia Chacón Flamenco Theatre has produced shows and concerts at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. From 2018 through 2024, the tablao-style production, Flamenco Intimo, played to full houses every weekend in October, averaging eight concerts each year in the intimate Stage2. Flamenco was the perfect fit for Stage2, with bistro tables in the front, and theater seating behind. There was not a bad seat in the house! Prior to Flamenco Íntimo, from 2015 – 2017, Julia Chacón Flamenco Theatre performed in the Live & Local series on the Virginia Piper Theatre stage. To celebrate our 10th Anniversary of appearing on Scottsdale Arts’ stages in 2025, JCFT returned to the VGP with Braided Roots, performed on October 18, 2025. Our newest evening’s length work, Braided Roots explores the intersections of becoming — an artist, an art form, and a company. The work was created in celebration of our 2015-2025 anniversary, and continues as a mark of how far we have come. Click here for more information about our October 18th, 2025 production.

Flamenco Íntimo has featured many artists over the years, including guitarists Misael Barraza Díaz, Kris Hill, Monte Perrault, and Roger O’Sullivan; singers Gaetano, Olivia Rojas, and Meagan Chandler; flautists Diana Schiable and Max Perrault; male soloists Martín Gaxiola, Carlos Montufar, Jesus Muñoz, and Fabian Sisneros; female soloists Franchesca Nava, Bernadette Gaxiola, Tamara Sol, Liliana de León, and Risa Jacobson; corps dancers Claudia Welding, Liz Polen, Brooke Merwin, Daniela Ziade, la Lea, Julia Terrel, and Emily Gonzalez; percussionist Emerson Laffey, pianist Ioannis Goudelis, and numerous other performers.

When we return in 2027, Stage 2 will have been transformed into a new theater! We look forward to continuing to share flamenco with you, in an intimate setting, where you can enjoy the subtitles exchanged between the artists on stage. Thank you for being part of our flamenco community!
